The name was given to the coniferous species including forest trees of the Pinus genus of the (Pinaceae) family.
There are five pine species in Turkey, all of which have short shoots with two leaves; Scotch Pine, Larch Pine, Aleppo Pine, Red Pine, and Pistachio Pine. In addition, pines do not shed their leaves in autumn.
