Thyme (Thymus sp.)

It is a perennial herb with pink or white flowers, small leaves, strong scent. It is found in clusters on arid hills and ridges. It likes to sit on anthills in grassy fields, forest shores, and meadows. It grows in rocky and mountainous areas where the soil temperature is high because it wants sun and heat. The fragrance emanating from its violet-colored flowers in the sunny midday heat attracts bees and insects. It contains essential oil, bitter substance, tannin, carvacrol, and thymol.
