Hazelnut (Corylus Colurna)
Hazelnut is mostly produced in Giresun, Ordu, and Trabzon provinces in our country. Almost all of the hazelnuts produced are supplied from the Black Sea Region. It likes moist and humus soils. It is a tree up to 10 m high and deciduous in winter. The leaves are short petiolate, complete, and with toothed margins. It is grown abundantly at altitudes of 100-1000m in the Black Sea region. The fruit is 2-3 cm long and 1-2 cm in diameter and has a rind. In the composition of hazelnut fruit, 55-60% oil, 14-16% protein, 11-12% carbohydrates, 4.5-5% water, 2% ash, and mineral substances such as phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, iron and sodium are also present. It contains vitamins B1, B2, and E.
METHOD OF OBTAINING: It is obtained from hazelnut seeds by cold pressing method.
