rowan leaf

Üveyz, whose Latin name is 'Sorbus Domestica', is from the rosaceae family. The word 'Sorbus' comes from the Latin word 'Sorbum' and means fruit. Its homeland is Finland. It grows naturally in the Marmara and Black Sea regions of our country. It is a perennial herb that sheds its leaves in winter.

It blooms between May and June in white, rarely pink. Its fruits are of the pseudofruit type, attracting attention with its similarity to a pear. Like medlar, these fruits can only be eaten when ripe. Otherwise, it tastes very bitter. In some regions, it is also known as deer apple, deer apple, bird apple. It is an important plant for beekeeping as it blooms in summer.
